An important stone sculptures originated as a wood sculpture commissioned by a colleague of Klaus at Skidmore Owings and Merrill in Chicago.
After it was completed, the wood started to warp and the original form – a cube – was totally destroyed. Klaus took the sculpture back and redid it in lime stone. After several years, he reworked the warped wood sculpture and the result was beautiful. The transformed sculpture is placed in the Philadelphia home. He created two more sculptures like this one out of a lime stone cube, both of those were sold to private collectors in Chicago.
The lime stone sculpture remained at the former Steinbrenner residence outside Kilcrohane, Ireland.
